In Prior Posts we’ve explored the developments generating a wild west atmosphere surrounding nanotechnology, RNM, and implants.

In this final segment we are going to explore additional sources of pressure on the ethics of researchers in this field, such as the pressing military interest, and the inevitable breaches of ethics protocols that result.

Governments are in the middle of driving the research frenzy, with the European Union spending about 1 Billion Euros for their Human Brain Project, and the United States Government Spending approximately 4.5 Billion U.S. Dollars on researching the brain through the Brain Initiative. The enthusiasm is so high that Private entities now create videos of their Implant research on animals, and show them in youtube videos.

To give some context of where the money comes from and what partly drives these enterprises, one needs to realize that the largest seed money for the Brain Initiative came from DARPA, a military research concern.

When we follow the money for Dr. Lieber, for example, we see that he netted $10 million of NIH funds – but that he also received another $8 Million, at least, from the United States Department of Defense.

Why does the military have an interest in Dr. Lieber’s work ? Fact is these technologies are always on the military wish list.

All Generals use their brain to plan their wars. All soldiers use their brain to squeeze their trigger.

Dr. Lieber’s research means, increasingly, that you might not get a chance to think of doing either one, so that any human controlled weapons system might never get to fire.

Or according to some circles, these technologies augment certain armies, and will be unleashed on the field of battle.

So every government is very interested in these technologies. This is why the Asia Times accurately calls the nanotechnology implant field an “arms race of a different kind.” To put this into perspective, people in the know are calling this, CRiSPR and related developments as “The Biological Revolution in Military Affairs.”

And all is fair in love and war, or so the culture goes – so rule breaking would inevitably follow. We don’t have to look too far back to discern the wake of shattered lives left by unethical thrusts into the frontiers of weapons development, the “Manchurian Candidate” fueled drive into Mind Control, known as MKUltra.

Now we know the pressures in this field. And in looking at the current state of injectable mesh electronic neural recording implants, it is most valuable to recall how we got here.

Here is another perspective on how far back human neural recording experiments have taken place, and some of the developments, this time from an article published by a Swiss research institute:


There you can see the early years, with Thalamus recordings in the 1940’s, to recordings of a cat’s visual perceptions in the 1990s.

Nano implants, neural monitoring, and neural modulation research has too many pressures for everyone to follow the rules. Technically this technology is more dangerous than a nuclear missile: the technology might dictate if and when the missile is fired, or if it is fired at all. The Dangers to Civil Society are equally staggering, and long ignored.

With all the given pressures for results, we cannot be surprised at the evolving tragedy of nonconsensual human experimentation that inevitably follows.

So it is important to see how we got to this point in time. We got here through human experimentation. Each of those technologies was tested on humans, to get to the next level. Each of those ‘developments’ saw overwhelming pressure from financial, military, political, and even personal ambitions. And undue pressures yield nonconsensual human experimentation.

The result of the perceived free-for-all is people unwittingly walking around with nonconsensual implants still in their bodies, daily suffering the failings of our medical and legal establishment to address the issue.

Some of the people used in these destructive nonconsensual experiments were simply seen as vulnerable, and a potential source for profitable research data: Soldiers, prisoners, people perceived as mentally ill, and even targets of Eugenics programs. Others appear to have constituted a threat to someone else’s ongoing crime, and were thus silenced.
