Look at the green needle and you hear green needle

Then look at brain storm and here brain storm

Now clothes eyes and listen you will hear brain storm

Now reset video and look at green needle and you will only hear brain storm and green needle will be gone

Sorry didn't work for me. Only heard green needle regardless of which word I listened to or if I closed my eyes.

I don't know HOW MANY TIMES I've said something and accused of having said something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! Last time it happened, it was with the landlord's son and he forced me to move out, no matter how many times I told him I didn't say what he claimed he was like "you were on speakerphone and we all heard it". For the final one, I was READING "brain storm" but THINKING "green needle". Guess what I heard? "GREEN NEEDLE". I did the reverse and it's THINKING that makes it work! NOT READING.. .THINKING!

I closed my eyes and listened, thinking to only hear "green needle" which worked. Then did the same with "Brain storm", and sure enough, that was all I heard.

McGurk effect. Basically, your brain can contextualize or filter a sound based on visual stimulus. It's something that can be triggered by playing two different videos as a lip reading reference, while playing the voice clip over top.

My hypothesis is that when we change the sound of the word by thought, we are utilizing our brain's visual center. Maybe some people think more visually than others.

The only thing I read in the comments that made sense on the video was that all words are being said at the same time. Whatever word you are thinking (try minimizing the window), it will say. It can even mix up the words into greenstorm and brain needle. Try it! Minimize the window, then think of your word and see what it says. There are four combinations: Brainstorm, Green needle, Brain needle, Greenstorm.

Do what I just did...

Play the video but scroll your screen down so all you see is the pause button.

Just listen to the audio but do not look at the visual.

Think about the word you want to hear and you'll hear it.

It has nothing to do with looking at the word itself. If you just shut your eyes and think of the word then you'll hear that word.

"Including Green Storm or Brain Needle" which arent even options.

It has something to do with the audio itself and how your brain is expecting to hear it. The visual just confirms it for your mind but the visual isn't actually required.

But I will say this makes me very uncomfortable this is the kinda crap the military was probably working on 50years ago...

That's what it says. I listened without watching.

I closed my eyes and thought of the following 4 combinations and distinctly heard them all.

Brain Storm
Brain Needle
Green Storm
Green Needle

The video repeats the sounds 5 times. I was able to focus my mind on just one of the above combos and clearly heard it all 5 times, yet when I focused on a different combo, I heard only the combo I was thinking of all 5 times.

The first sound is sufficiently garbled that it can easily be heard as either Brain or Green, but the second sound mystifies me because “Storm” and “Needle” are very different, yet I am hearing whichever one I am thinking of.

Quite a fascinating experiment!
