if i were in your situation and low-income, i would call my local legal aid, and fill out an application for some help by an atty, at low to no cost.

you can find legal aid by calling the district atty's office and asking for a referral, or by calling the legal dept of your local university.

You need a specific drug test to determine what type of opioid they are claiming you are testing positive on

The test will cover hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, codeine, methadone, etc

I'm not 100% sure but a standard panel will register heroin/morphine/codeine and only the extended tests cover the synthetic opioids like hydro and oxy

I would submit a hair sample.

There are rare cases where certain people register positive and you need to find out a way to prove your innocence using science. There are ways to do this

Stew has been showcasing and helping with this very situation. He has had several families, fathers, mothers, grandparents on the show and getting phone numbers of local CPS offices and helping to raise a ruckus.

By doing this, it sounds like some kids have been returned quickly as the audience floods the local office with calls, etc,etc, etc.

If nothing else, they might know who you need to contact.

In a couple of cases, CPS would not allow the grandparents to keep the kids. The kids were put in foster care even though family tried to fight for them.

Normally, a court-appointed attorney is provided to the parent from which the removal was made. They should do this after a temporary removal hearing.

That's a good suggestion to get independent testing. Maybe if you have health insurance, a Medical Card, you can use that to cover the cost of the testing.

My heart goes out to you. I don't believe you did anything wrong for this to happen to you. Getting a hair follicle test, calling attorneys (call more than one or two) and contacting good people for support that can be a witness for you, is good advice that's time sensitive.

Unfortunately, lately, there have been several reports of good parents losing their kids all over America without good reason while many terribly abused kids are not protected.

It seems that CPS has been weaponized in a way that most of us are totally unaware of. It sounds like there are some bad actors in some places that are doing some horrible and drastic things--things that are illegal--but no one knows how to challenge them until damage has already been done.

It is. A drug test for opiods has to ve sent to a lab and takes weeks. Not a few minutes at the crime scene at the suspect's house.
