Why aren’t US schools lockdown after 9am.

In UK our primary school are locked down from first bell to finish. Visitors must be let in via security door by receptionist after appointment is booked. We don’t armed guards simply because we don’t have armed citizens but surely considering so many of these ‘so called mass shootings’ occur and the wider population is so well armed it would make perfect sense that each school would have someone on premises who has fire arms training.

As an FFL, I can not sell to an intoxicated person or one who is prohibited (felon,etc) from owning. We rely on state law enforcement agencies to process our checks per ATF form 4473. Of course, if there are comments/cues that come up during the purchase process, we can engage with law enforcement.
