I would think APOD would be interested in your images of the eclipse/occultation. R. I’m sure it will be gone before this posts, hopefully. One more to Quoting: Maguyver The ignore list. The amount of hatred I receive is truly off the scale. This scumbag, whoever he is, is posting some very disturbing false accusations about me and is ramping up his dedication and focus on me. Yeah Astro, it's truly unacceptable if you ask me. I thought I was treated somewhat poorly here lately but damn man... Some of that shit is harrowing and some defamatory. So sorry you're dealing with that dumb shit. Just remember you are a very intelligent and hard working man so you are dangerous to the dolts. I for one really value your presence here and think this is going a bit too far. I completely understand why ACs get banned oftentimes, however, now they have been emboldened to just create burner accounts. You are a smart fish drowning in a sea of useless eaters lol If you didn't have to deal with idiots and assholes so often you could focus on the real good people with intrigue. Also how the f does imgur not instantly recognize that stuff? :memorybanner: |

Who ever that is isn’t worth time, but, dang I almost pity him knowing he looked up and saved all that garbage. Pretty revolting. He’s a sad, sad person. I appreciate your posts and the space info. Awesome As Always So how long did it take you to become proficient in Python? I'm basically a retired EE working with Verilog for the past 20 years. I'm currently working on an automation controller for my power station using an FPGA module to implement an intelligent interface controller coupled to a Raspberry Pi to create a GUI. For software tools I've always leaned toward assembly and or Basic compiler (Turbo/Power Basic) for the constructs that could not be fully implemented in digital logic. There are numerous options on the RPi and I suppose Python sounds interesting, being a scripted language... What do you see as its limitations? There are very few people here I have ever had the interest in meeting in person, but you are definitely one. Ominous regressions One Truth... many realities |

Quoting: scimitar I picked up Python pretty quickly, within a week or two I was able to start porting my rocket tracking program from visual basic, but I'm always learning more. Python is very powerful for the tasks I need it for, in part because of a huge array of packages available to make every task easier. Image handling is simple with OpenCV, joystick handling is simple with PyGame, arrays and spreadsheets are easily handled with numpy and pandas, etc. The biggest limitation I see is processing speed. It takes longer to crunch the numbers in Python than if I wrote it in C, but I can prototype things much faster in Python and for most purposes the hit on processing speed is irrelevant. Rocket and satellite tracking runs fast enough on modern CPUs, even with video-based tracking assistance. I also wrote my own security camera software for alerting me if anyone comes on my property using raspberry pi. It uses a YOLO algorithm to detect objects and people, but it's computationally expensive enough that I absolutely have to use a Pi 4, anything older can't handle it in a useful way. As it is, the framerate on a Pi 4 isn't great, but it's just good enough to be useful for my purposes. I like being able to send pictures of whoever comes to my door to my phone without having to go through any external company for monitoring or cloud storage. If shit goes down, I want to be the one with exclusive access to the footage. |
