I've been wondering!

I get shingles periodically, starting at 7 years old. Took us years (decades, actually) to figure out I only get shingles after a round of steroids for my asthma. Not that it matters much, because for some reason, I can no longer tolerate even a low dose of prednisone.

ETA - steroids lowers the immune system. Shingles activates.
