I wouldn't bring a child into this filthy cesspit!

Chose not to have kids early in life and no regrets.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
There is no greater power in the world than the zest of a postmenopausal woman,” noted anthropologist Margaret Mead. Rather than an ending, many women find post-menopause a new beginning marked by increased energy, creativity and libido. Call it zest, zeal or zing, women are seizing this stage of life with delight.

Protect your health and you can do a lot to be of service to others. No one mentions Margaret Mead these days.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
I wanted around 12 children. I ended up having 3 precious ones.

I'm not the same person since having a hysterectomy and going into menopause mid 40s. The ability to bring forth life is a sacred thing. When it's gone you feel an intense loss. It's a grieving process for what you used to be. You can no longer create life.

I chose to not have kids. I have two brothers. The world sucks. Glad I don't have kids. Didn't have a stable family. Dysfunctional. Narcissist parents. Nothing to pass on.

you probably would have been a way better parent then most out there.

clearly the people who have an endless amount of kids and baby daddies dont care about any of these things. and somehow they survive

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
I know people who were born with a mom in her 40's. Screw the selfish women who do this. Not only did the kids have health problems but she was too tired to raise them.

That is total B.S. !!! I was 41 when I had my youngest. I had a rough pregnancy, but she was perfect ! She was ranked 1st in her class through all her school years, got a full ride to college, graduated with distinction from college with multiple honors, and today is an Accountant/Financial Analyst for a Fortune 500 company.

I wish I had more kids than the 3 I have. Being a Mom is absolutely GREAT ! As for menopause, the night sweats were the worst part. Everything else was no problem.

Your narcissism is repulsive. You do sound like the mom I was talking about.

Not even a little bit do I feel sadness over hopefully soon hitting menopause. 13 years ago I had my last baby. Had a girl and a boy. And knew I was done having babies. Im not just a incubator, dont just grow and pop out kids.

The rest of the journey is important too, raising new humans that areant assholes.

It’s such a sacred thing!! I will grieve like crazy.

I’m glad you had some precious babies.

I was 38 and they referred to my pregnancy as geriatric! That was my 5tb child. He was born tiny 4lbs but otherwise healthy.

I wish I could’ve had 5 kids or more. Wasn’t in the cards for me. It’s lonely and depressing getting older with no kids or family. If I were you, I would do it if you’re having second thoughts.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
Yes, and yes.

We have a boy and a girl, but wanted a third child. Attempts in late 30s ended in miscarriage but we were told we had the green light to keep trying. Problem was, we never were ready at the same time. One year I'd want to try but he'd want to wait, next year role reversal.

Before you know it, you're over 40, then you start to wonder if you really want to have another one at that point with the other kids graduating, going on to college, etc. While putting off a final decision to go for it, quickly (it seemed like over night) age 50 and menopause were upon me and it was too late.

Definitely grieved the loss of fertility, and the "status change" I felt as a woman. Too OLD to have children (this of course would not apply to those who had hysterectomies - the "too old" portion). This was a transitional phase though and now I'm happy to be post menopausal.

But the regrets. Yes. My husband and I both regret not having the third child we really did want.

Yes, menopausal age roughly coincides with the timing one would become a grandparent. Our daughter had a beautiful baby girl after I was post menopause about 5 years. Unfortunately my granddaughter passed away from congenital defects at a very young age. My daughter has since had numerous miscarriages and has now been told she can't carry a child to term. Our son has made the decision that parenthood is not right for him. We support him as it's not good to have children due to societal pressures, when you don't feel you want to be a parent.

So we don't have the comfort and joys of grandchildren, and likely never will. This, and especially the loss of our granddaughter, have been harder for us emotionally than not having a third child.
