Question for post-menopausal women
I’m afraid I’ll be depressed when having kids isn’t a choice anymore.
Do you wish you would have had more kids? Do you have regrets?

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
I wanted around 12 children. I ended up having 3 precious ones.

I'm not the same person since having a hysterectomy and going into menopause mid 40s. The ability to bring forth life is a sacred thing. When it's gone you feel an intense loss. It's a grieving process for what you used to be. You can no longer create life.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
There is always a period of grieving going past the time of fertility

For most - that coincided with the coming of grandchildren

AVERAGE AGE of menopause is 51

I didn’t get it until 56

General health applies here too - biological age versus chronology

Early forties - most women THINK they can still have kids

Fertility is CUT IN HALF at age 37 !

Babies in the forties - rare - and subject to more defects - MEN over 40 have more Down’s children no matter the age of the woman

I was really bummed when I was told not to have more children - age 36 - for my own safety

There is ALWAYS the “What of “ questions in life

Kids - careers- mates - locations

What if I had moved to California in my 20’s ?
Same thing

No kids ? That’s different

Can’t relate to people with families your own age

ADOPT A FAMILY and help with the kids - if no children - nieces - nephews- or neighbors

They need the help

The kids love the attention of another adult

My ex had a hysterectomy when she was around 30-ish and went totally off the planet. I never understood the reasoning, but your post clicked for me as she wanted more children. Oh well, we been divorced for 25 years and I guess it's all history now, but maybe I understand more what changed in her. As a male, the older I get the more I wish that I had fathered more children.

I am 50 and going through the change now.

I am ready to be done. I have 2 kids, one almost 18 and one almost 7. My last one was born when I was 44. So I'll still be child rearing for a few more years.

Bring on the stretch pants and granny panties. I am glad to be about done with the monthly mess.

No regrets, it's the cycle of life. Enjoy the ride, sisters.

I have 2 grown children now. I had to have a hysterectomy at 29 as I had cancer. Was immediately thrown into menopause. I didn’t deal with it well. I did become a workaholic. I still don’t know if it was the medical situation that depressed me or the not having more children bc I do think I was done. I think more about what if, now. I don’t dwell on it though

5 years is not a break?!?!?!?!

the longer you wait the more annoying it gets when you have kids who can take care of them self and a new baby.
or wait a little longer so your older kids can take care of the coming babies.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
Wife breezed through it. Late 50s. Great attitude. Positive affirmations about her body and being grateful.

No caffeine, sodas, very little alcohol, very clean Leto like diet.

When she’d get a hot flash she imagined being on a tropical beach. Only lasted a few moments and they stopped within a few months. Added ground flaxseeds. Also adds nutritional yeast to her morning eggs.

Attitude, reevaluating diet is key.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
My first wife ( Divorced now 28 years ) never had children. We have never talked after the Divorce but I was told by a 3rd party one reason she ended our Marriage was that I would not agree to children.

I remember she wanted kids more than anything but I was not ready at 25 and a in a new marriage but I now have a large wonderful family with my 2nd wife and truly Blessed.

My high school first love of 8 years also never had children...

I have often wondered what those two now think about it all...
I love all my children beyond words but as I guy I think I could have had a 100% fulfilled life without any children or more children but I'm a guy.

Now that the kids are older the wife and I are just now talking about things she and I could do with just us...

We are now talking about a cross country motorcycle trip and Im shopping for a big new Harley, Can't do that with more Children. As much of a Blessing as Children are Life is full of Blessings after Kids but I am a guy...

That is total B.S. !!! I was 41 when I had my youngest. I had a rough pregnancy, but she was perfect ! She was ranked 1st in her class through all her school years, got a full ride to college, graduated with distinction from college with multiple honors, and today is an Accountant/Financial Analyst for a Fortune 500 company.

I wish I had more kids than the 3 I have. Being a Mom is absolutely GREAT ! As for menopause, the night sweats were the worst part. Everything else was no problem.

Re: Question for post-menopausal women
Never a question for me. Have 2 beautiful girls and 2 beautiful grandkids. But I do wonder this going through Menopause right now though, how much is any kind of medicine and the such is needed?

I plan on taking nothing, but grew up hearing all of the nightmare stories about "growing a mustache" and a need for some kind of medicine. Fuck Big Pharma. They've already murdered my mother with Cancer from the innoculations she got when she immigrated here in the 50's from S.Africa and they've already given me AND my youngest daughter MS from our childhood "vaccinations".

Not trying to derail your thread OP, don't mean to at ALL, but wasn't sure who to ask. My own mother is already gone, so I can't just ask HER and have no one else that I could ask.

I chose to not have kids. I have two brothers. The world sucks. Glad I don't have kids. Didn't have a stable family. Dysfunctional. Narcissist parents. Nothing to pass on.
