They claim that through their nurturing of evil that they are working in our best spiritual interests. They claim to be "teachers" at this academy for souls that we call the human experience. They see this all in a detached way as some sort of game, when it need not be this way at all. They are so bound by tradition and the parasitic memories of their ancestors that they do not acknowledge any other truth than their own. If they actually believe this, then they themselves are being fooled. The earth was indeed at one time a school, but it has since become a farm, yet they continue to staff it. They were hijacked and reprogrammed to serve the flawed master, the divine pretender. Many know not what they do, and those that know care not.
