There has been a vested interest in keeping that heart in a state of arrest. Humans are still infants, operating on ancient biological software. They were given too much too fast and it was premature. The head believes that the heart will only get in its way. Mankind should have been left as they were and given to their own devices. To rush these things is to invite disaster.
