I might just watch the livestream since I won't be able to watch it live. Supposed to start raining around the time of the eclipse. Already seeing that strange light that I associate with an incoming hurricane so this storm might be a doozy.

I guess you never paid attention? I remember "blood moons" since I was a kid. The earth is blocking the sun, but the atmosphere refracts sunlight. Every sunrise and sunset occurring on earth is casting a bit of its red light onto the moon, from the perspective of the moon, the earth is blocking the sun and surrounded by a ring of reddened light.
