Absolute BS Crap Reasonable Nice Amazing

Remember when used books cost $0.25 to $1.75 at a church sale or used book store? $5 was ridiculous 4 used books, maybe a coffee table hardcover!

Now good luck finding anything, written on, dog eared, pages soiled, stained, cover torn etc. for less than $9.

Ama*zon ruined used books. e*Bay followed suit. Even thrift stores (pre-pandemic, at least) were/are scoured for online scalpers to resell.

I saw a sweater on E*tsy a couple years back that had a hole and was stained in the front. Seller wanted $25 for it. I scoffed and was sure it'd never sell. It sold within 2 weeks of my finding.

Wtf WHO are these idiot millennials that pay overpriced prices for used garbage, torn/stained clothes and soiled books? (Zillennials?)

We will all be better off when the banks sober up and cancel 100 million (or more) Americans credit cards and lower the limits on the rest plus jack up interest rates and fees! Sooner they do that, the prices will drop on garbage goods and the less competition to buy decent, non-garbage items.

You'd best stock up on books NOW. They are literally being removed from society. Especially anything that has to do with "conspiracies" or real technology and how to build things.

One conspiracy title you could buy new for $20 a few years ago is going for $900.

I used to buy used books for $3-5 from our local library donation bookstore. People were dumping them and replacing with Kindle, which will be great until the day Amazon turns them off for people with low credit scores.

When you are afraid of losing your life, you have already lost your life.

Don't be afraid.

I worked in E-commerce and books barely sell anymore. Look up Thriftbooks & Betterworldbooks those basically run the book cartel now. People mostly donate them in those boxes by the grocery stores and they turn them around online.

@Crypto- tard
Appropriate name? LOL! I don't "stock up on books now". I only buy ONE book on a topic I want or need, at a time. I am not a hoarder. I don't have the space nor the need to hoard books or anything else. Watch "Hoarders" and sober up!

You're the first I've ever read saying what you said about book removal. WHO told you that?!

Seriously THINK before you post nonsense. Filing that one along with flat Earth and yellow sun, now.

I think you will eventually be right. Boomers are starting to die off and they own the most books out of anyone - so you book hoarders still have some time before this happens.
A good bet is to get car/atv/motorcycle repair manuals for stuff you own and books about alternative medicine - those sort of books will be priceless after SHTF.

People used to drop boxes and bags of books outside the used book shop near me. I'd dig through them at night with a flashlight. Take a few home and bring them back.

You should be able to get them at a good price because no one under 30 knows how to read ...
