Anonymous Coward User ID: 82554265 United States 05/04/2022 04:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I mean, you're not really deactivating the cylinder. The crankshaft still makes the piston go up and down right? So you still have the losses from reciprocating motion. How much does one save by not burning any fuel or getting any power from that cylinder then? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81887851 Its not about saving ,it is how these POS trucks can pass ROLS emission testing. Only four cylinders burning fuel , the others are diluting the mix enough to stay under limit. |

My driver told me Citco TERMINAL and Lakeside are out of Diesel. Seeing spikes in retail already... . I just bought a new chevy z71, 2021.. it sucks, bent two pushrods at 25oo miles... 50 k for a piece of crap... Brother I hear you. I spent about 75k in 2018 for a maxed out Duramax 3500. That truck let me down so many times and left me on the side of the road it was crazy. DPF, sensors, bad ring and pinion, driveshaft issues, on and on. Never had something like this let me down. I went the other way. I sold that POS to someone's little kid for about 40k and got a 2011 Cummins and a 2006 Duramax LBZ. Both trucks are low mileage and have been trouble free. I will not own a other new truck. No way. I also have a 97 2 door Tahoe z71, a 97 Landcruiser, and a 97 F350 7.3 SRW and they have been beyond reliable. I hope you get yours fixed quick and you have no more issues. I know how frustrating it is to soend hard earned money on a truck you need and it not be reliable. At $30/gallon that would be SHTF. Anything under $18/gallon for diesel is a steal Are you retarded? I would probably lose my business if fuel goes up that high. Im already feeling it when filling up 5 tree tucks every couple days for about 300-400 a pop as well as my own truck. Its already 450-500 to fill up with its auxiliary tanks in the bed. 18/gal would make it just under 2000 grand. You surely are trolling. By Fall all of Europe will be buying everything they can on the open market for winter. There are tons of hidden subsidies and tax breaks that keep the price of diesel and gas at reasonable levels. Without them, well, I don’t know about $18/gallon diesel, but it would be a lot more than the current price - perhaps $10-$12/gallon or so. |

It's an idiotic method to increase mileage and frankly I can't see it improving much at all. Another idiotic feature is the constant shutdown and restarting of the engine when you are at a stop. I was being cheap and put regular in it and datalogged the PCM. The knock sensor was going nuts and it was pulling out all kinds of timing to protect itself. Never did that again. I've got a 2005 Ford Explorer, an expensive dual fuel (NG & gasoline) luxury import here. I had to have the fuel pump assembly replaced this year, that's it, even driving around the Andes mountains with some pretty demanding terrain it's still like new with just routine maintainance. I wouldn't hesitate to hop in it and drive to Argentina tomorrow. If I had a dollar for every time I got suspicious... I'd wonder who was paying me, and why? |
