A pro-vaccine mandate special interest group is putting out false information about Senator Mastriano and his actions in 2020 regarding HIPPA and the release of private medical information.

During the early uncertain days of COVID, Senator Mastriano proposed the idea that an element of HIPAA be suspended to keep our state and businesses open. This legislation was linked to similar policy announced by the Trump Administration and was never intended to run (the previous excellent leadership of the senate can confirm this), but to force the hand of our disgraced and failed Secretary of Health, Levine.

Wolf was preparing to lock down all of Pennsylvania, destroying the livelihoods of millions. Mastriano examined all options to prevent that from happening.

Crucially, Mastriano’s proposal would have protected the identities of COVID-positive patients from the public. No “registry” would have ever been created under the plan.

Mastriano also introduced SB 1124 to ensure that the people of Pennsylvania have full access to COVID-19 data such as number of cases, deaths, and impacted age groups. Pennsylvanians deserve full transparency from their government — especially at a time of an unprecedented global crisis. SB 1124 would have allowed Pennsylvania lawmakers to quickly identify and protect the most vulnerable members of our community from the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Just like Mastriano’s HIPPA proposal, SB 1124 did not allow authorities to disclose the names of COVID-positive patients to the public.

Mastriano continues to be a proud champion of medical freedom in Pennsylvania. He has authored numerous bills to end mask mandates in the state and is the author of the Medical Freedom Act — a comprehensive bill that would prohibit vaccine mandates in Pennsylvania.
