Peace On Earth or 1000 Years of Peace

I am not a religious person by any means, in fact quite the opposite.

What if some of the bible is true from a standpoint of it is trying to document an event that they know will come to pass, something like a worldwide event that happened in the past.

Could it mean that most of humanity would be wiped out leaving just a few survivors (if any) which could be an interpretation of what they meant by "peace on earth".
