There is no way to prevent the retaliation that would eliminate our country.

It was bad enough when they just had the nuclear triad like we do. But they got a bit nervous that we might be able to intercept their ICBMs. So they introduced this hypersonic maneuvering missile. I don't believe we have anything that can shoot it down reliably. Normal Ballistic missiles follow a very predictable flight path to target, so you can fire a slower missile to intercept its calculated future position and kill it.

But if the inbound makes a few maneuvers, such an intercept strategy fails. So the only way to possibly intercept it would be with a laser or particle beam weapon. You can use your imagination to decide if we have that yet or not.

I think there is a good chance we do have it, although not sure how reliable it would be against a lot of inbounds. Also, it might take some time to get the missile hot enough to fail it. The missiles are designed to withstand a lot of heat (as in re-entry heat), at least at the front. I can certainly see some challenges, but our Space Force or whatever may well have a way to shoot it down. Of course us mortal mouth breathers would never be told one way or the other.

The fact that they test fired the missile should definitely be viewed as a warning.

They also have that high speed 100 Megaton Nuclear Torpedo. (Status 6 or Poseidon). Good luck trying to stop that bastard.

Why does Putin get to dictate what Ukraine does? Are they not a sovereign nation? Or Finland? Or Sweden? Or the others he has threatened?

When you are a small poor nation next door to a superpower nation, it's prudent to not allow yourself to be turned into a geopolitical pawn to be used by an enemy superpower nation as a tool against your superpower neighbor. That's a recipe for disaster, as you will become just a sacrificial pawn.

In such a situation, it's best to be neutral to both sides. Or if you are brave, play both sides against one-another.

Russia's national security has been violated when Ukraine decided to push for inclusion into NATO, and again when Zelensky asked for NATO nukes be moved into Ukraine.

That's what triggered Putin to invade, IMO.

The C|A has been playing Zelensky, the Ukraine and Russia to instigate WWIII. It seems Putin feels he has no choice but to shut down Ukraine's ambitions before NATO nukes are moved into that nation.
