Any bird feeders in the house? Virtue-signaling liberal neighbor sent me a link.

Woke up to a text from a neighbor with a link that explains why I should remove my bird feeder.

I was going to send a snarky response but figured Id give it some thought before I reply. I have no plans to take down my feeder, any animals that come to my yard are getting fed. Superspreader event or not. I refuse to live in fear over the perpetual sky-is-falling panic the media creates.

Just curious how some of you would respond to the text, or if you would reply at all? I have a decent relationship with my neighbor and don't want to strain it, however, I do not appreciate people making suggestions on how I should live.

How would you handle it? I'll be back to read responses but won't be around to baby sit this thread, I'm commuting to work now but interested to hear ideas on how you would handle the matter.

My feeders are locked and loaded with seed and suet waiting for my feathered friends.

Simply explain to your neighbour that "experts" have been 100% wrong 100% of the time, during the past two years regarding every aspect of Covid.

Therefore your view of the opinion of the said experts is null and void.

Maybe I should explain to you what might happen to your neighbors who have backyard chickens: Infected birds poop in your yard. Squirrels run through poop and then run through the chicken yard. Chickens catch bird flu and die a nasty death.

We stopped filling our feeders and will not fill them until this bird flu is over. There is plenty of food this time of year for wild birds.

Maybe you don't use eggs and could care less about chickens. But for the rest of us, especially those of us who have small flocks who are not only our source of beautiful eggs but our beloved pets who have individual personalities and names, this is and will be very disturbing until it is over.

Your nosey neighbor has deemed it their responsibility to start actions to control and manage your behaviors.

Now that's a line that's been crossed and can not be erased.

So , my position would be to engage in the new set of communication standards.

" Dear Neighbor, thank-you for your concern of my actions with the birdfeeders ."

" I am pleased that we are now free to express our feeling about one anothers behaviors."

" On that note please take onboard my concern about your ( insert any action the neighbor would engage in that can be taken to the extreme point ) eg : ' I'm concerned about the level of alcohol you consume weekly and have included here a link to some horrendous health issues that drinkers can suffer from , but also the horrendous death counts from drink driving '.

Anyway I will diligently be ' My brothers keeper', and share this new level of watchfulness of you my neighbor and address all actions of yours that concern me.

Not a single chicken in this neighborhood. Next excuse for telling others how to live?

I don't tell people how to live. I expect them to have brains and discernment and be able to connect the dots.

This info is all over the news. And there are a few threads here of people distressed over the rising prices of eggs. I supply eggs to all of my friends who need them. Eggs here are 5 bucks a dozen and rising daily.

How do YOU know there's even a single case in the US, or that the food supply isn't the target of all of this?

You're playing checkers in a chess match.

If you want to actually do the right thing just clean the feeders out with bleach every few days. Let your neighbour know that some have become dependent on you and therefore you will be bleaching the feeder to kill any flu.
