Re: The Stingray: How Law Enforcement Can Track Your Every Move
I was just talking to one of my adult kids about stingrays a few days ago. One of them stated that the devices may have been bought up by the feds. Harris corporation.

This video confirms that it breaches all cellphones in a location.

My questions for the court system is "Where is the Warrant
for tapping my phone" and "what "probable cause" predicated the invasion?" while they were monitoring my neighbor. "Why wasn't I notified?"
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50034595

Your cell phone broadcasts your voice for anyone to hear. The phones over copper wire did not. With the right equipment you can hear everyone in your neighborhood discussing what’s for dinner, pick up a quart of milk, the toilet is overflowing………

This is ancient tech, from over 25 years ago OP.

Nowadays western intelligence agencies have a big hoover vacuum that gobbles up your every keystroke and voice from EVERY provider and ISP. EVERYTHING.

Anyone who thinks they are anonymous are a fucking moran.

Stingray tech is 2 decades old or more.

I purchased one off of silkroad many years back for 18 bitcoins, and surprisingly the components are things you could pick up at a best buy or fry's electronics store.

I'm sure what is being used now is more software related than hardware.

Re: The Stingray: How Law Enforcement Can Track Your Every Move
right near our house about 15 years ago there was a girl who went for help when car broke down. somehow she slipped and tumbled down steep mountain and broke her leg. she called 911 but for whatever reason didn't or couldn't convey her exact location. it was very cold that night. the deputy sheriff was able to pin point her location from cell signal and they got to just in time; her body temp was dangerously low like 80 degrees.

so these sting ray things aren't all bad.

I never had a cell phone but the police coming from the opposite direction or watching cars on a bridge always frantically pulled me over. I think I had a GPS tracking device of some kind that is no longer working.

That was called Carnivore when it became known.

Notice the box in the video says Kingfish on it,... Newer tech?

I hear it a lot these days, the dispatch will RTX a cell phone and get a ping. Usually an overdose or suicider.

idk just seems like too much power in the hands of irresponsible individuals.

buuut as a caveat these are hellah expensive, not massed produced and usually restricted to one, so it's not like every LEO has one.
