Re: He Is Undefinable, Yet A Living Legacy To The World.
"All change is personal change, and past efforts to effect long lasting systemic change have often been neither effective nor sustainable. Old notions of accommodation, adaptation, and assimilation of the new are no longer viable alternatives and remain a sedentary response to problems faced by academies and those who work in them. What is proposed is a reaffirmation of the construct of competence as exhibited by a sense of alignment between the environment, behaviors, and strategies that individuals use to mediate their world of work and beliefs and values they hold about their participation in that world. These levels lead to a clear sense of identity and accomplishment and, therefore, a strong sense of self-efficacy, which supports the organization, and their efforts are directed toward the goals of that organization. Those who beliefs conflict with the organization have two choices—to subvert their personal beliefs and play the game, or to rebel and effect change on the organization or on themselves, perhaps at great cost to their own identity. Of course there may be a third alternative–to leave; this is at the expense of a great deal of talent and potential."
