Old movies are the best movies

Alien. But even Blade and boondock saints feel “old” to me. Let’s call them classic instead.

I like all the old Sherlock Holmes films with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Bought the collection from amazon and have really enjoyed watching them all several times now. Remembered watching them on the afternoon movies when I was a kid. Good times.

Oh yeah! Loved them when I was a kid! They were great!

Know what kick I've been on recently? Charlie Chan. First the pics with Warner Oland (they were the best). Then the pics with Sidney Toler. His were good, he played the character differently.

I remember!

Frank Sinatra is unforgettable as a psychotic war veteran whose goal is to assassinate the president! As John Baron, Sinatra and his henchmen take over a house near the train station, holding the family hostage while waiting for the president’s train to arrive. Baron is good with a gun and has the perfect vantage point. All he has to do is keep a cool head. But can he? This cold-blooded thriller from director Lewis Allen (The Uninvited) feels as savage as it did decades ago when the New York Times called Sinatra’s performance, “a melodramatic tour de force.”

Little known Orson Welles movie is Mr. Arkadin, which was based on the novel Welles wrote.

Some great Welles movies that he did not direct, but certainly impacted: Journey Into Fear, Jane Ayre, The Third Man.
