Texas cannot detain these individuals, not can they require them to provide proof of citizenship or legal status within the USA.

I understand that Rule of Law doesn't not mean a damn thing anymore, but isn't it suppose to be that if the federal government doesn't live up to protecting a state in the way it should, then the state takes over?

Simple legislation from Congress granting back states the power to police their own borders needs to be passed.

Prior to 1887, states handled their own immigration and border security.

We need to return to this concept to some extent.
