User ID: 82203136 United States 04/03/2022 07:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The best popcorn maker is the Whirley Pop I spent years looking for a legitimate quality Stainless steel popcorn maker and yet almost all are junk. Plastic reigns supreme. My perseverance was finally rewarded. There are 3 versions of the Whirley Pop: Stainless steel with plastic gears, Stainless steel with metal gears and Stainless steel with metal gears with copper plating. I bought the Stainless steel with metal gears. The design and speed is second to none. A batch of popcorn takes ~ 3 minutes. Use MAX 1/2 cup of popcorn with 2+ Tbsp of coconut oil. I recommend using organic popcorn. I have yet to get a burnt kernel and almost all kernels pop. The trick I've found is to add the coconut oil and the popcorn before turning on the stove @ medium high heat (setting 6 out of 10). As soon as you hear a pop, turn the handle and keep turning. When the handle gets too hard to turn, move the pot off heat. When the popping almost stops, open the front vent flat. Perfect batch every single time. Be sure to season the pot with coconut oil before the first use. Coconut oil is great for metal, as it doesn't become rancid like vegetable oil. It keeps it clean and prevents oxidation. The only cleaning my pot and lid get is simply using a paper towel to wipe up the excess oil and popcorn residue after each use. Use salt, butter and spices sparingly. A little too much is too much. Less is more. Last Edited by FRANK & BEANS on 04/03/2022 07:10 AM |

The stainless is heavier and takes longer. Whirely Pop is all I ever use. |

Quoting: Finding Nemo DEAD That's what a Whirley Pop is except that it has a wire built in that agitates the corn at the bottom of the pot so it doesn't burn. |

Have had a West Bend Stir Crazy for years. Super easy setup and clean up. I use Orville's white corn and peanut oil with white cheddar seasoning. Healthy(as popcorn goes) and great taste. Oh wait, is that white privilege? Last Edited by Remedial_Rebel on 04/03/2022 12:43 PM |

Kettle popcorn machine in my home theater and it makes good popcorn. I also use a whirlybird in the kitchen. I set heat on low until the corn gets nice and brown and just about on the verge of popping, then I turn up to high heat and pop it ‘till it’s done, dumping some along the way. Add melted clarified butter and salt and voila, best popcorn I’ve ever had. Considerably better than the popcorn machine popcorn. |
