you probably didnt actually wake up when you thought you did
you had a dream you woke up and checked the cars
then you referenced that memory as an actual event when you checked the cars "again".

The thing that made my situation obvious is the "wake up and start my morning routine" act repeated about 7 times and the huge amount of confusion sent me into a mini panic attack. Maybe I never "woke up", but at least the cycle stopped haha. Funny thing is, I'd never seen Groundhog day at that point. When I finally did it blew my mind a bit.
