OCR Hyperlinks in Photos on macOS
Pretty wild and a good idea. To make your photographs become more interactive, like hyperlinks to webpages and what have you:

Yeah, embedding code in image files. What could go wrong?

That's the point. There seems to be nothing embedded. I tried it myself. Normal photographs, right off a camera can do this. It's a product of the operating system with Apple OCR.

Re: OCR Hyperlinks in Photos on macOS
I use a Mac, it’s system wide.

Any PDF or image with text, the system will detect that text as so can be copied and pasted into a text field or word document .

Only a few months in since the last macOS release. But it’s pretty cool for photos of billboards, business cards or notes off a whiteboard.

Thanks. Yes, it really is handy and neat.

Do you know if they made any fanfare about this new feature or did they just slip in out?

It looks like a carry over feature from the iOS15 or iPhone OS:

The links aren't embedded in anything. There is no "coding" in the image.

It's a text recognition overlay. Accessibility options have been doing this for years, Apple just made it so pictures you take can do the same.

It comes in quite handy, especially if I take a picture of something I would want to paste into a Word document or a note.

Thank you. Yes, OCR.

Amazing how long it sometimes take for large corporations to figure out 1+1= new feature!
