Hahaha. Sure is expensive to be stupid. Next time give me 20$ and I’ll find you a good battery that will fit just fine for under $100. In fact Wally World has them for 55 or less. Old junk car like that doesn’t need a fancy battery. Good grief. Walmart batteries are shit..sure they are less but they last a year same for the rural king batteries..live in a warm climate and put 25-30k miles a year on a car and find out Stand up and speak for truth..even when it's not popular.. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74322544 batterys have gone to crap. truck and heavy equipment has gone thru 1 every year. they used to last a good 3-5 years. not anymore. And once dead they can't be revived for light duty use like the older ones. dead is dead. usually with a failed cell. The plates inside used to be much heavier duty Yeah i think they found a way to make the spongy lead cathode degrade faster. And normal vehicle vibration wrecks it fast maybe? IDK. But something has clearly changed for the standard ones. You gotta goto the optima round cell or some form of hybrid/agm/deep cycle to get a battery that still hits it's expected lifespan now. Just wait until you have to replace an Electric Car Battery. People are not going to be able to afford this. An engineered collapse is coming. |

Trojan batteries used to be the standard for many offgriders, but I tried some new ones recently... made by US Battery... that are the best in my 40 yr. off grid journey. Yes, the price was $250 each compared to the $200 Trojans, but the difference in performance is significant!!! You get what you pay for! Anonymous Coward User ID: 82641340 United States 03/29/2022 04:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | DO NOT BUY A WALMART BATTERY Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79321299 DO NOT I've bought two now, one for a Ranger truck, the other for a Taurus. THEY ONLY LAST TWO YEARS AND THEN LOSE CRANKING POWER. NOT WORTH IT AT ANY PRICE. Conversation at Walmart I want to use a deep cycle battery. "Sir, those are for golf carts and farm equipment." I think it'll be ok. Hope your alternator has a really good charge controller. PS. if anyone is interested, the best batteries are made by DEKA. made in Pennsylvania. There is no difference and no need for a better "charge controller". Batteries are simple affairs. They charge fully charge with 18 volts and will go to three quarters charged at 12 volts. Deep cycle batteries are just batteries that don't have the really thin lead plates of regular batteries. They last longer and are more resilient. They have less cranking amps for their size because the are built differently and have thicker plates and more room for the sulfur deposits that collect at the bottom. Same chemistry. Same charging voltage. Same regulator requirements. |

Got Sam's Club to give me 2 totally new batteries over the last few years since the one I bought had a 100% LIFETIME Warranty (NOT prorated), it crapped, first replacement crapped, now on second replacement. Cost to me? Sales tax only. So far the last one is holding up well so maybe they went back to making sure they had some quality in them versus having to keep GIVING people NEW ONES because of the 100% Warranty. That 100% Warranty for a crappy battery had to cost them oodles of money. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71434337 United Kingdom 03/29/2022 04:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People get ripped buying car batteries because they think a longer warranty represents a better battery which is false. Compare CCA (cold cranking amps) instead and buy the one with the highest CCA rating that you can afford. The higher the rating the better the battery. I'd rather have a 750 CCA battery with a 2 year warranty instead of a 550 CCA battery with a 5 year. The battery with the highest CCA rating is the better battery regardless of warranty. And you can thank Barry Obama for high prices. He closed the last US lead mill years ago. Lead to make everything from car batteries to bullets now has to be imported at from overseas. |

There won’t be any going forward with the pooper in chief Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80600233 Their lifespan starts the minute they're made. It's not like old school batteries that required you to add water (which is what started the clock). You could buy 2 of them and keep one hooked up to a trickle charger for 2-3 years, but it would still have lost some of it's lifespan. |
