In France you can only be held 48 hrs unless you are charged and jailed, or suspected of terrorism (then it's 96 hrs)

It's quite easy for the Forces de l'ordre to abuse the power of arrest in France. There have actually been judgements by the EU against France for that very reason

With elections coming in 2 weeks, this may not be a surprise, but it will only give more resolve to those of us many millions in France who want to hold the govt accountable for the last two years of abuses
