These are common and sometimes occur at sunrise/sundown. There has been an awful lot of high levelmoisture in Houston as late. Note the tine this was seen, 830 (near sunset) and it was gone 45 min later (sundown). The wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine. |

User ID: 80408535 United States 03/24/2022 12:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That makes sense. Probably a Butadiene flare. Quoting: JustmeTX I stood next to one (about 100 yards away) when I was younger. For whatever reason, it was a ground level flare. (mmost are about 200 to 300 feet high for obvious reasons. so you don't cook people). Basically it was like the Sun had landed and also it was angry. The reverberation pulsations of the flame were hitting my chest like a bass drum. The one I expereinced was on Old Tidal Road. They have many flares all over the ship channel but a butadiene flare really burns super bright from the double bond energy I guess. I used to see them near Pittsburgh as a kid in the evening when J&L steel would dump slag or whatever along the banks of the Ohio River. And they will last for 45 minutes in the air? User ID: 80117407 United States 03/24/2022 12:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw that last night and I am half way between Houston and Galveston. I assumed it was a spot light in the clouds, but it did look very weird. For one thing it looked like it was pulsing and slightly strobbing and over time it seemed to move upward, but that could have just been the cloud layer being higher. When i was looking at it pulsing I jokingly said to myself it was a transmission beam to the mothership. I did think it was a lot closer to me than Houston though. Weird stuff. “The rules are simple: they lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying, but they keep lying to us, and we keep pretending to believe them.” Elena Gorokhova, A Mountain of Crumbs |

No sunlight was even reaching those clouds. It would more likely be some kind of high powered spotlight.
