Weak. He's kid of on the right track with thermal issues but he has alot of basic stuff wrong.

The problem with traveling in open space in a vacuum is not the "heat" of the various levels of the atmosphere, but that once heated by the sun, the spacecraft has a lot of trouble shedding heat into the vacuum of space. Yes, temperatures are high in the upper levels of the atmosphere, but since it is rarefied very little heat is transferred to the spacecraft. Think of it like trying to heat up a metal object with a butane torch [at sea level] as compared to butane cigarette lighter in the Mesosphere.


The best place to look for answers to how hot a spacecraft would get in "cislunar" space in direct sunlight is to look up the temperatures of satellites operating in that region, where they reach thermal equilibrium, around 140 to 170F.

And yes, there are methods of cooling in a vacuum that do not involve thermal radiation but they require lots and LOTS of water [sublimation].

My favorite give away is hang time of 'moon' dirt off spinning Rover tires and kicked up by stumbling asrtonuts boots. It's same as on earth not 1/6th 'moon' gravity.
