START Saving Your Pennies and Nickels! Here's Why. Not only are you correct about metals value, but all US coinage is Treasury, not Fed. This means their value is established by law, not monetary policy. Now, typically the coin follows monetary policy because people are dumb. However, in hyperinflation (we're in it, for the dumb-bumpkins), the paper currency almost always becomes worthless while the coin maintains expected value. This is why there has been a "coin shortage" for 2 years. Money handlers (not banks) have been slowly extracting huge amounts of coin from circulation. Just as OP has stated: the older coin first for metals value, but all coin is being held out to flush out the coin caches that so many of us have. When the currency changes, the coinage won't. Follow OP's advice. It's good advice. |

Beyond that no longer silver. Man the tards are out tonight Coins are 90% silver because the zinc additive makes them more durable for circulation. Except they add copper to the silver, not zinc. (Well maybe a speck of zinc here & there.) alloy is the operative word here. |

Doesnt matter what the bankers do to the currency, 4 of them always equals 1 dollar. Good to have in the event of a dollar reset where dollar is revalued back down and a couple zeros are chopped off. Usually happens eventually. |

Banks/Fed wants to keep control over people, hence they are eliminating coins from circulation as they are gaining in value, while paper money is loosing its value. Basically, Treasury coins = people money Fed paper Dollars = fed money |

True in your limited understanding. However, in currency resets, coins are rarely, if ever, reset along with the paper currency because it's too expensive. Here's what happens: Say you have $10,000 in bills and $100 in nickels. The currency gets devalued 100 to 1. New bills get printed and you turn in your $10,000 in paper for a nice crisp new-style $100 note. Your coins are still worth $100 - which is now equivalent to $10,000 pre-devaluation dollars. Which is easier to save now - $10,000 in bills or $100 in rolls/jars? Last Edited by Coming Soon on 03/20/2022 05:33 AM Covid Jab Experiment - I'm in the control group. This then changed to nickel and coppers, bronze etc. Now I do metal detecting. I find lots of coins. Here where I am I have noticed that they aren’t even sold copper or nickel-they are plated nickel or copper onto steel! So even more worthless. The currency has worked its way down to the most valueless format possible. Might I also suggest gold panning, as that is becoming more valuable by the day. 23-24k no less |

Here's Why. With all due respect, did you even read what I posted? I said PRE 82 pennies are 95% C O P P E R. Go back read it again, then tell me I'm wrong. Yup! This! My daughter had to do a science experiment in fourth grade. She decided what would clean copper pennies best. We researched it together and in order to follow the hypothesis, we found we had to have the same sample of pennies and pre-1982 were 95% copper. Yeah, yeah I helped her but she was 9 years old. I mostly let her do her own thing but just kind of taught her a bit about picking your test subjects, comparing apples to apples etc. We had a great guy at our local market at the time that actually saved up about 100 pre 1982 pennies for us to use. I wish I could remember the outcome, I think it was vinegar or salsa lol! I really wish I still had the pennies I inherited a copper apple butter kettle years ago. The Mrs. cleaned it with ketchup. |

I'm a numismatist. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1584498 Wrong, US nickels are 25% nickel 75% copper and have been since they were first issued in 1866. It's the only US coin still circulating that hasn't been changed: penny in 1983 from copper to zinc dimes, quarters, halves and dollars in 1965 from silver to Cu-Ni clad small clad dollar coins starting in 1979 as a numismatist you should know this, unless you were referring to some other country (Canada's nickels are now plated steel) if not, invest in a US coins red book and don't use words you don't understand! |
