zero intelligence at all, melt them now while its ahead or dont bother AT ALL, if the dollar goes the world ends at that point, no manufacturing of ANYTHING when that happens so lead (ammo) has the most value, invest in bullets only or imperishable foods such as coconut oil high calorie dense easily repurifyable if contaminated. coins or even gold is worthless if the dollar goes EVER, due to the chaos it would entail, all the way to the point of gold being melted to use as alternative casted ammo for muskets

I can walk into any pawn shop in America right now and get $9 for my half dollar, $4.5 for my quarter and $1.80 for my dime.

There will come a point the Nickel will be worth 25cents and it will trade at the pawn shops the same way the pre65s do.

You do not need to melt a damn thing to make money here.

He collects scrap and has scrap yards he sells it to.

Well... he just said the price of scrap has gone way up and scrap yards are EMPTY. He said there are usually piles as big as houses throughout the yard. Now Nothing.

The owner told him that EVERYTHING is going to China! There was a mile long line of trucks waiting to get loaded to ship this week.

The price of all scrap metal has AT LEAST doubled in price! All just in the last couple of days.

He just said carbide metal went from $2. a # to $8.00!

They're even buying old Christmas lights! Tires were usually deducted from the price paid but now they are being cut up and sent to China.

Lead batteries from .15 to $1.50 a #.

Bro? Copper is way more lethal than lead (short term). The lead will get you if it remains in your system. The copper will blow an exit hole thrice the size of the entry wound and as a hollow point will dump all it's energy inside the target exploding everything in it's path.
AND to add most +P+ solid copper rounds are level 3a tactical armor DEFEATING.

I'll guarantee you if this was 1965 and I told you a 1964 quarter would be worth $9 in 1980 you would've had the exact same reaction.

If I told you a nickel worth 9cents today would be worth $2 in 15 years you'd probably tell me the world had ended - history never changes yet somehow the world survives. Even today the same silver quarter is worth $4.5.

All one has to do is hold onto the nickels and pennies and watch inflation work it's magic. Eventually these coins will be traded at pawn shops the same way pre65 silver coins are today.

The Nickel's MV is almost 9cents. The last LME nickel price of 100k/ton actually means they are currently 17cents.

I suspect the real price is closer to 9 than 17 but my point is these coins will eventually trade like the pre65s do.

Melting them down is A TERRIBLE idea - not only is it illegal it is totally and completely unnecessary.

Just hold these coins and wait folks.

I just have to shake my head when people act like they are giving newly discovered info no offense to OP. Ive Been saving my pennies and nickels for 20 years. For same reasons

Base metals ARE the CHOICE metals of common folk.

The war nickels with 35% silver were actually minted with the mint mark very prominently above the dome of Monticello on the reverse, so they could be more easily be pulled out of circulation after the war ended.

I agree that most silver coins weren't pulled by the govt. though. The bulk was pulled by people who got it in change and kept it like my grandfather. Or from people like my mother who would get it in their register and buy it out for face value. Bank tellers do the same thing, swapping clad coins or fiat for face value. Then with the people that buy bulk coins, sort out the silver and returns the clad coins... some of my favorite memories with my grandfather was buying boxes of dollar and half dollar coins, quarters and dimes to hunt for silver and error coins.
