Kennedy’s finest hour dealing with the Soviets with them backing down.

Was seven years old and remember the real tension in the air.

Even little kids felt that end of world possibility.

Following year Kennedy killed and Manchurian Candidate movie immediately pulled.

My father's friends Richard Condon (writer) & John Frankenheimer (director) made that movie.

Frankenheimer also directed Grand Prix where my photographer father got his first acting gig playing one in the film.

"Coincidentally" my father was JFK's campaign photographer, was Sinatra's favorite for album covers & I met RFK at the director's beach house having an intimate party with a bunch of hot blond actresses about a month before his assassination by a "Manchurian Candidate".

Frankeheimer also directed Seven Days in May, about a military coupe & was so gutted by the assassinations he pulled The Manchurian Candidate & almost disappeared 15 years, doing almost no work.

Back then my father did an adaptation with writer Condon on a 50s sci-fi novel The Long Loud Silence that got budgeted but pulled later, about a biological warfare plague taking out everything East of the Mississippi besides a few with immunity—and the people in the East quarantined from the West, sound familiar?

About a dozen knock-offs used the same themes later.

Same time period 1970s my father had a book The Manipulation of Human Behavior, the USAF/RAND/CIA MKULTRA textbook, stamped Sidney Cohen MD, Veteran's Hospital near LAX.

Cohen had given my father LSD in the late 50s as part of the CIA's research at UCLA under Louis J West MD, a prime CIA contractor.

Cohen's partner Oscar Janiger DO was head of that Veteran's Hospital, gave my mother the drug same period, she was allowed to wander off & given a nightmare scenario including "rape" by a black guy, getting pregnant & later a Mexican abortion and the family disintegrated with the custodial parent a shell of her former self.

Anomalous enough? Just scratching the surface...
