In reality, the CIA and MI6 have their own mini-militaries. They have a pretty substantial number of guys in Ukraine for sure or Ukraine wouldn't have done so well at the start of the war. It's what they did all through the Cold War; UK/US military people fighting in foreign uniforms under the command of the CIA/MI6. Lots of them were pilots flying the jets for the foreign country we supported. What this means is that some of them have been caught. Since they have been caught, Russia can legally kill them as spies. Except this is the UK trying to provide legal cover to say they weren't spies and were just foreign adventurers, partisans, who joined the Ukrainian military on their own accord. Russia won't be fooled, but they will be mostly professional about it. |
