Protesters have built two fully functioning toilets at the corner of Hill St which Wellington City Council has now confirmed are flushing into the city’s wastewater sewer network.

“This is clearly an illegal connection – however given the volatility of the situation in the area around Parliament we have been advised not to put the health and safety of our staff at risk by the police who are managing the situation on-site.

Construction of two others is underway.

Greater Wellington Regional Council chairman said the council would investigate the plumbing along with the police, the Wellington City Council, and Wellington Water.

He said he was “deeply disturbed” by the toilets and had sent police a “please explain” message asking how this had been allowed to happen.

The ministers of parliament think they are above talking to the protesters, so they keep getting bigger and bigger.

The police cut off the access to get the portaloos emptied and for the protesters to be able to remove rubbish and then started to call them filthy.

It should be crime to stop people form being able to live cleanly. Then the protesters hooked into the main sewer line and built flushing toilets.

Pressure is applied and then released. There was no winning in this situation; New Zealand is a cult of complacency. There may be some misled reactionaries, but I assure you this is not a cause to celebrate.
