I'm used to that here. I've got a Calor gas heater and camping stove for coffee, and a car battery inverter so I can keep stuff charged up.

I have spent so much time out there at the Myrtle Avenue field watching airplanes coming in. We used to have meet-ups with our Concorde group at the nearby Green Man Pub.

We would watch them big jets coming right over in the beer garden.

Fantastic memories.

Back in the early 80's I used to work on Viscounts (yeah, I know, the donkeys) and was regularly sent as flight engineer (duty free run and source us victuals) to CDG and AMS and sat in awe as Concorde took off ahead of us. especially on a dark wet night. Wow, what a sight.

Yorkshire here, no winds yet..woke up to sunny skies but its clouding over a bit now. The night before was worse. Thought my house was going to blow away.

Where in Somerset are you? Still have power here in the Minehead area (for now).

I remember Viscounts and comets. I flew on VC-10 when I was young. They crashed though.

Also Tridents. They were great.

My first flight was on a BAC 1-11 over the Pyrenees in the late 60's, remember my father turned green. Laugh? I nearly bought a Honda. (Old joke at the time, not so much now though).

Heathrow flights trying to land in the storm.

Rained all morning here in Stoke. Has been a bit breezy at times but now the sun is out and not a breath of wind.
The worse of the weather was forcast for now for my area. Seems a bit hit and miss.

12.40pm here in the thick of things - about 10mls inland.
Cloudy blue skies with intermittent bright sunshine over to the northwest and north.
It's been squally and noisy this am, now some brisk to busy gusts.

All morning, over the road from the end of our drive there have been workmen clearing an old hedge (scheduled work not to do with the storm). I've been checking on them from the top bedroom window periodically. They're still chugging on.

Perhaps it's hitting the coastlines worst?

Accuweather has been accurate so far. The worst is slated to be over after about 1pm here.

Lancaster NW UK here... Not too bad right now, we're right on the coast (100mtrs away) , forecast 60mph later this afternoon. I don't think we're getting it as bad as further south :)
