MSM is blaming the damage to the grounds on the protesters and not on Trevor Mallard who turned the sprinklers on and left them on when there are water restrictions in place. Complains have been lodged with the council.

"On Friday night the protesters began digging up trenches on Parliament’s lawn to redirect water from sprinklers from their tents–something which will cost the taxpayer to repair.

Speaker Trevor Mallard was not immediately available for comment on the damage protesters were doing to the lawns late on Friday, and police referred questions about the damage to the Speaker’s office.

That came after Mallard turned them on for overnight Friday in a bid to remove protesters."

The destruction of parliament's lawn is clearly Trevor Mallard's fault who is now not available for questioning.

"Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard had Parliament's lawn sprinklers turned on in the evening, to soak the lawn under the tents overnight.

"They're not legally on the ground, so there is no problem adding a little to their discomfort," he told 1News.

Protesters responded by placing cones on top of the sprinklers and put a call out through social media for any plumbers present in the crowd to assist them."

A kitchen was set up on Molseworth St when the convoy arrived on Tuesday and has been feeding people ever since.

Portaloo toilets are being emptied twice a day by Hirepool, and a medical bay has been set up within Parliament grounds.
