Dr. E. T. Barker who set up the Oak Ridge program went to China in 1965 right out of university.
He also went to East Germany.
He learned from reeducation camps and set up the same program in Canada. you can read it in his own words.

Absolutely! It is well worth it to learn what really went on in those 2 places...

Definitely some crazy stuff I am just learning about the Canadian psychiatry of the time.

Yep...the grounds now house the Penetanguishene Mental Health Centre (Waypoint is its name) where its maximum security forensic hospital is home to some extremely dangerous individuals.

This is Steve's thread on his experience. He was a member for awhile, haven't checked.

One of those dangerous individuals contacted me from a Canadian prison. He's the guy in shadows in the Fifth Estate story.
He sent me a lot of info about St. Thomas.. that's how he got into the story.
He is an extremely dangerous man trying to present himself as a victim.. He raped and tortured women in there.
He told me it was BDSM.
He tried to manipulate me into helping him with an escape plan.
I turned it all over to RCMP... now he wants to kill me .
He is one of only a few designated dangerous offenders.

I became friends with Lynn Burgess producer of Fifth Estate
She retired after this show aired

Not saying this didn't happen but just remember the last "jaw dropping news" out Canada which lead to a giant propagation of false news like the mass graves. I know its not uncommon for psych facilities to use LSD back in the 40's - 60's as it was yet to receive the description of a Schedule 1 Drug "Substances in this schedule have no currently accepted medical use in the
United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse."

The glp'er above^^^^ named psychopath machine was actually a patient in Oak Ridge and has had a hand in getting this story out. All his bio info is in the OP ...his name is Steven Smith and the first couple of videos above explain how he was caught up in all this. He has even written a book about it.

I guess what I'm saying is you have concerns about the legitimacy of anything posted here then by all means just ask him about it.

Yeah he and I chatted in another thread yesterday about Laurel Canyon and I started this thread as exposure for his book and just the overall intrigue this story has to offer. Some seriously crazy shit like allowing the patients to act as doctors for other patients.

Yeah, they were all relocated to Oakridge Oregon, aka Puddingville.

Me in a prior incarnation on GLP, my ex wife and ex mother in law. Not a long view on the 5th Estate.
