Texas power crisis again?

70K and most are in Bexar County, aka San Antonio. They'll be ok.

We don't buy any Texas Gas in my state ... in fact we export HUGE amounts of gas, almost as much as Russia sends to Germany, and that is from just our state alone (which means our gas bills for gas hear are very very low).

One big difference between our gas and Texas gas is that our wells do NOT freeze up in the Winter, seems Texans are TOO CHEAP to winterize their well heads and gas collection system like the northern gas producing states do.

Good luck ... hope you can keep your power plants up and running. Did note this morning that Oklahoma gas production was down 25% this morning due to well head and collection system freeze ups overnight, hope you do better.

I lived in kansas for decades and the power was on when it was 20 below. I now live in Texass where power goes out when it is 30 above. We had 2 old people freeze to death in our neighborhood last year. Kansas is red as hell too so why cant texass do better?

I lived in Northern New York for 22 years in some of the worst winter weather in the country, it was not unusual for snow to be 8-10 feet deep and temperatures to be -40F and even colder, and NOT ONCE was our electricity cut off.

EVERY SINGLE TIME we have any kind of winter weather in Texas there is ALWASY failure of the power grid, and it is because of gross mismanagement.

Money that should be being spent to trim back trees and winterize the grid and gas supply is going to building swimming pools and luxury homes because the governemnt is fucking corrupt.

What happened last year is in the months before the bad weather fossil fueled generating stations were decommissioned, and the ones that werent were not winterized. People who had natural gas and any sort of gas heating that didnt require electricity were fine..

So, Abbott controls the frozen tree limbs overhanging the power lines? He must be like a God, Zeus or Allah to you people.

He is just a politician, and a fairly good one.

And, we were without power two days last year. About 50 hours total in 2-2021.

This year, 2022….full power and not one glitch of any outage. No issues other than a few downed transformers from trees. But go on ahead and make a dumb comment about THE HORROR!!!!!

Never ceases to amaze me the level of idiocy displayed by the GOP,and their constituents. Like, even Ted "Fat Wolverine" Cruz was joking about his trip to Cancun last year, and people were defending his honor on Twitter, asking what Beto, or AOC has ever done for Texas. More than Cruz ever has. AOC actually helped raise 5 million for the people of TX last year, and she doesn't have anything to even do with that part of the country.

The real question should be, what has Ted Cruz, or the GOP ever done for the Bronx.

YEP .... the problem with Texas and it's power grid is TEXANS.

Texans have such big egos, no make that HUGE egos, that in their minds they can never be wrong about ANYTHING and are the absolute BEST at EVERYTHING.

Any other state in the country would have taken the freeze event of a DECADE AGO and made their system more freeze resistant. The other places that suffered through that freeze event of a decade ago did. Arizona did after that event. New Mexico did after that event. El Paso, which is joined to the New Mexico grid did after that event.

NONE of those places cited above had a problem last year even though they went through the SAME FREEZE EVENT last year that the rest of Texas did.

Lots of things to like about Texas and Texans, but their HUGE Egos and their determination to NEVER face up to FACTS and FAILURES when they are wrong are NOT one of those things.

I currently live UP NORTH and we have NEVER had the kind of winter grid failure Texas did last year. In the past I have lived even further NORTH (by several hundred miles), and they never had the kind of winter grid failure Texas did last year.

(to say nothing about NO WHERE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY has ever had the Rate Raping that electric consumers had to face with Texas's electric problem last year).

I lived in Texas for 7 years, and I gotta say that it is that same mindset that keeps them biting their noses to spite their faces, er... I mean to own the libs, that has them in this spot in the first place. If they just realized that voting republican is a vote for oppression disguised as Christian values, they could have been free from this tyranny ages ago. But, they would rather act against their own interests to own the libs.
