Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79123678 Maybe spend the money to winterize the grid? Maybe legalize recreational weed and use tax profits to pay for winterization if it's too expensive? I see why we get shit on for being backwards sometimes because this is some third world level stuff. At least we have the consolation prize of being Proud of having our own broken grid as we freeze once again this winter. Abott is an assclown who makes conservatives look bad |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80246334 United States 02/03/2022 10:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It aint that bad, in the DFW area, yes there is some ice on the roads, but not that much and nothing to panic over. Im sure any place that has overhead lines or the like will have issues from the weight of the ice building up, otherwise not many will have power problems, you guys forget how big Texas is compared to the other states. Not many are having problems, but hope those that are get things resolved asap. Texas aint blue yet, they have been trying for sure, but it will be a few more cycles before it flips, unless they cheat again that is, which would not surprise anyone. |

Everything is BIGGER and MORE IMPORTANT when it comes to Texas than it is anywhere else in the US. Time after Time. Cold? Every winter occurrence in much of the US and their grids seems to hold up fine. Sheesh, Georgia is a southern state and their power grid seems to hold up just fine when it comes to COLD weather. Ice storms are something else ... and power failures because of ICE can occur anywhere, but nobody else seems to complain as much about them as Texans do. I hope Texas does NOT have the problems they had last year and everybody ends up OK but Texas really needs to get it's act together wrt it's electrical grid. It seems to be a bag of problems ... or is that just Texans exaggerating like they do about like with almost everything else? Stay safe and warm. Oh, and a hint: Winter WILL be back next year too!! |

Then you get a kerosene heater or heater buddy, hang up blankets in doorways to close off one room and keep that one room warm...simple as that. I had to deal with that as a poor single mom with small children in Illinois twenty years ago ...it's just common sense..if you live in a place with cold winters, prepare!! The trouble isn't so much money as it is lack of common Sense in people |

The only thing I can say good about Alabama power is that they keep trees trimmed everywhere in their coverage area very well ..even on my 55 acres here in rural n.e. Alabama. Of course ,they are sloppy and butcher them but at least there are no issues with trees. We don't have ice storms here but we do bad storms and tornadoes. I moved south to avoid the harsh winters |

It always freezes a little harder up here around the river and lake Ray Roberts though. SativaSyborg |
