********"CORRECTION BELOW*********

Jamés Townsend, proprietor and creator of the 18th Century Cooking channel has passed away.

So many of us here have learned so much from his commentaries and recommendations on how to live simply ien this clown world of today. He was a kind and intelligent man who will be sorely missed.

Type Townsends into the search bar at YouTube to see all of his excellent videos.

Rest infd peace, my friend.

Çorrection:
it was an honest mistake,it was the father, the originator the show who passed away.

Í should have fixed it, but it was getting no responses in the middle of the night, so I just l re t it slide. My bad, and I apologize for the confusion.
Mods, please unpin this faulty old thread.

I noticed a lot of YouTubers dropping dead in the last few weeks. All of them are about survival, prepping, how to do things like they used to back before electricity, etc.

I find that a little too coincidental.

James "Jim" Townsend of Jas. Townsend & Son which is now known as Townsends' has passed away. Mr. Townsend passed away over the weekend from complications from a heart attack. His son John runs Townsends, and we are all familiar with Jim's son, John, from the cooking videos that he has produced in the past few years. Jas. Townsend & Son was born in 1973 (didn't yet have that name) when Jim started making candle lanterns, and it grew into the large mail-order sutlery, and later online sutler and YouTube channel today known as Townsends. I am sorry for the loss of one of the foundational fellows of our current hobby. Glad for the fact he saw his concern grow into the internationally known and well liked firm that it is today.

I absolutely love his stuff! What an education he brings to us. I’m so sorry to hear about his dad passing.

I have their latest catalogue where you can buy period clothing, lamps and tools, etc. You can get one by request here:

First thing I said was

“Probably the Dad”

His father was an amazing person

He handed old Dad (about 90 then) a gun from a mounting behind them and that guy recited the history of that gun - the battles and so much my jaw almost dropped

Steeped in history

Fantastic channel

Damn, I thought Jack ‘Cooking With Jack‘ Scalfani would kick the bucket first being the survivor of 800 strokes and all the trash he eats.

I'm real sorry to hear this! He's been a bunch of their videos over the years and although I didn't know who he was. Another great loss for '22.
