Up in the Upper Peninsula...1995 we had 5-6 feet of snow in one day...looked out at it and couldnt see where the driveway or my car was...Coldest record here was -48 in Marquette. Heres some tips:

Safety first: Be very careful of candles. Safest to use put them in the bathroom sink lined with alum foil if you have little kids. A small room is easiest to keep warm, even candles throw some heat. run around the larger rooms every so often to keep your body heat up then go back under the covers. I the temp is 20 or lower, let your water run at a fast drup or pencil-lead thin stream to keep pipes from freezing/
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES use a charcoal stove as it will eat up the oxygen and you can die of co2.

little babies do best inside the mothers coat.
Pets will keep you warm, they have more body heat.
Hope you have a radio with good Batteries.
CHARGE ALL CELL PHONES NOW and dont use them for foolishness Call 911, get directions to nearest shelter just in case.

If water goes out DONT FLUSH, that water tank water is not dirty, especially if you can boil it for 3 minutes. Fill the bathtub and all containers with water, use "grey " water to flush toilets. You have to stay hydrated, especially kids.

Have each person have an emergency pack with stuff to amuse you if the tv goes out. songs to sing, books with short stories to read aloud. games to play. A deck of cards. Dont eat foods that will upset stomuchs or may be spoiled. Have aspirin and first aid kit handy.

We love our snow. I was having a Lupus flare yesterday and couldnt walk or move. My bedroom curtains were opened wide and I watched the snow from my bed, some flakes as big as quarters falling, blessing the ground and covering the little trees from the cold. I played some Straus waltzes and the snow danced to them, it seemed. It was all so lovely set amoung the deep green pines...If you cant change it, love it.Good advice for weather or marriage,LOL

NOAA Special Weather Statement South Jersey

...Heavy snow and increasing winds are expected to produce rapidly deteriorating conditions during the overnight hours...

At 1220 am, radar indicated a band of heavy snow extending from Caroline County in Maryland and Sussex County in Delaware north- northeast to Monmouth County in New Jersey. Spotters and the public have reported heavy snow rates with this band, exceeding one to two inches per hour. The band is nearly stationary, suggesting that heavy snow accumulations are likely in this corridor during the overnight hours. Additionally, a second band of heavy snow appears to be developing near the southern New Jersey coast. Winds have increased considerably along the coast in the past couple of hours, with reductions in visibility to a half mile or less in several spots. Blizzard conditions are likely to develop in the next few hours in these areas, with severe reductions in visibility and nearly impossible travel conditions.

It's snowing down here in Northwest Georgia and it wasn't supposed to snow? Alexis still saying it's not going to snow but it's coming down hard and there's snow on the ground.
Just waiting on the power to go out.

I'm seeing that on radar. I'm just north of Tampa and got a freeze warning tonight with winds gusting to 20 mph.

Winds keeping me awake in Tampa metro, sounds like a tropical system out there. Gonna cover pool equipment & plants tomorrow. We finally get Gasparilla back & it’s ruined.

I think somewhere will get 40+ in mass. Wind will be pretty bad, might hit 80mph. We rarely get hurricanes in Mass with that high of wind. Snow is snow, we got good equipment these days to clear it.

Not good when the power goes out in winter...and there is so much snow you cannot drive on the roads.
I`ve dealt with it here...but it is different in the sticks vs. people stuck in the city/burbs.
Hope people have a plan.

Like Texas last year, could be a lot of busted pipes, but I would think people that far north would have alternate heat if the power goes out. We'll see.

If it goes out, it goes out - end of story.

$89 and then another $15 for a tank of propane.

Snow is currently falling in South Jersey and as this storm makes it way up the east cost, it's forecasted to be a major blizzard dumping up to 30 inches of snow with peak winds near hurricane force in the Boston area.

The warning is official from NOAA siren2

Zee Ice Age comth.

Check cold weather records, we have been breaking them every year for the last 10 years...

the weather will get so bad you won't be able to leave your own home.

Then it would be to late to migrate.

and this is no mini ice coming...full blown 90,000+ years of it..

IMO covid was introduced to reduce the fitness of the population, so there will be less competition for food.

earth cycles baby.
