No big surprise.

The 101st and 82nd are light infantry (airborne and 101 air cav). These units can be deployed much quicker than regular ground units. Remember who was the first to get to Saudi Arabia to beat up the Iraqis.

The 4th ID (Mech) is the type of division required there--not elite light infantry. The problem is there are not many such divisions left. These eight divisions are similar, regardless of armored or mech infantry but one is light infantry but still with light armored vehicles.

The US Army has been gutted. The entire active-duty force consists of 11 divisions. Three of those are light infantry, 101, 82, and the 10th Mountain. This leaves 8 divisions for worldwide operations.

There are only two army-level organizations--one in the continental US and the other in South Korea. What is left for deployment in Poland?

4 divisions barely have 60,00 men. Throw in corp support and the number could go as high as 100,000 men (and 27 girls). Of that number perhaps 30,000 will be front-line soldiers. This number combined with the Polish and Ukrainian Army is comically small compared to the targeted foe.

Deploying elite light infantry against heavily mechanized formations is not just moronic, but treasonous.

The world may soon have a couple of new names to add to the dumbest generals in all history.
