If you remove suicide, self defense, and police shootings there are only about 4,000 gun deaths per year. about 1000 are domestic. the other 3000 or so are gang/drug disputes. Those people wont have gun insurance. Suicide victims wont care. Will the police carry insurance? or continue to have their settlements paid by taxpayers?

No matter what, if you are involved in a self-defense shooting, you will be arrested - insurance covers an attorney and bail, something most people don't think about when a just slaps a 10k bond on your release.
