A thrifty thing I can recommend: Take your rotisserie chicken bones - skin and carcass- wings and all Put in a small crockpot with some chicken bouillon - garlic powder- salt and pepper -cover with water and cook and cook Those spices add a lot! Make BONE BROTH that you’d pay $8 for at the store That gelatinous texture when refrigerated - that’s the COLLAGEN ! Now you can drink a cup a day for many days - it makes a quart or two ! And you used to just toss those good bones!!! "What are you helping with all this helping?" Buddhist saying |

Besides saving several tablespoons of coffee out of every can, I have the added bonus of really pissing my wife off. |

A really thrifty person doesn't eat out, instead cooks and uses store brand condiments. They find a campground and camp in a tent, or plan their trips so that every night they are staying with a different relative or friend. Just saying - I grew up with really thrifty parents. You learn the real tricks. My mother shopped at garage sales for Christmas presents. She rinsed and reused her coffee filters. The parents didn't run HVAC into the upstairs, so we literally slept in rooms that were sometimes below freezing. And you put the water in the soap well before it is empty. LOL! |

Quoting: Savvy Buyer! We’re talking primo brands It’s a high like no other I make money I am hot to trot Nothing wrong with shopping at thrift stores. You can also furnish your home with Facebook Market finds pretty cheaply, too. Real oak - not that particle board crap. If you don't like the oak look, paint them. |

Everything you wrote above is absolutely true. We aren't cut out to be socialists. We are the people who couldn't be constrained by Europe. We are the malcontents, idealists, speculators, dreamers, inventors, debtors and criminals who would not be chained. We don't play well with others, we are brash, outlandish and cunning. let us do what we do best; let us be Americans. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78035738 Right now I'm working on how to reduce my electric bills. Unplug any big appliances or items you don't use all the time. My washer/dryer, coffee/toaster, wall a/c stay unplugged until ready to use. I just got my yearly review and am the lowest user in the area. Then they bummed me out and said but you used more than last year! lower heat degree or too, lower hot water heater degree or two Last Edited by GLP Saved Me on 01/23/2022 07:58 PM |

Yeah, we never eat out. You can buy 4 times the amount of the same food at grocery stores and make it at home. And you won't get sick. Thrifty David Horrowitz taught us that. I don't buy coffee filters, I use a mesh strainer that sits on the mug. And just cause something comes in a bigger size or in bulk, does not mean it's a better deal. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81945866 And NO (I'm talking to you smartass, I know you're out there) I don't split the toilet paper too. I cut my sponges in half for washing dishes. Use spray bottle of ½ vinegar/water dash liquid soap for cleaning surfaces and bath. Use baking soda for scrubbing. I add a little water to gravy or spaghetti sauce jars, replace cap, shake, add to pot. Last Edited by GLP Saved Me on 01/23/2022 08:06 PM |
