Actually, you just need to hose him down.. Just a water bath will make him smell much better. No soap.

I was dead serious about the coconut oil, my dog rolls in really nasty shit like dead skunks or SOMETHING and I wish I had some to do it.

don't have any coconut oil right now, dead skunks are the worst.

Or...you could take a costco-sized jar of peanut butter and blow it through an industrial fan at the dog until it's worked in real good. Then you can spread a jar of grape jam on the dog until it's dripping on the carpet.

It should only be a few days until it all goes rancid and your dog will look and smell totally different.

Fair enough, try Hummous instead of peanut butter

No. No way to get rid of that smell. Best bet is to double-down and rub a bagful of nacho cheese Doritos on your dog and walk your dog proudly at the doggie park like a boss.

Maybe try Afrosheen. You'll have to ask for assistance at Walmart as they keep it locked up due to lots of retail theft.

Had a crossbreed once - one of fastest things on 4 legs I ever
saw run - ho never missed a chance to roll around on his back
in any- and everything he could find that stunk really bad.

Of course, he hated bathing.

And the answer to OP's question is no, not really chuckle

We take the dogs in the tub or shower with us to clean them.

Nice warm water, they're not afraid, and we don't have to worry about making a mess.

You can use baby wipes, it causes no harm to the animal and actually works really well.

I didn't think so either, but hand bath with wet-wipes, good rubbing, is a good plan for me.

Not funny to joke about axe spray or Febreeze because people will actually do it. That stuff should never be sold…. A bottle of scented cancer.

Try a frisbee or tennis ball in a lake while you fish.

You have to bathe the poor dog somehow

Any product placed on them will most likely cause nose and skin irritation and discomfort. Their noses are too sensitive for the topical powders, sprays.

Do what’s best for your dog and just bathe them when they need it - it’s not hard

I was kidding about using gross smelling Axe and Febreeze, but there really are "dog perfumes" at Walmart and around the world, I'd imagine. Just nice scents designed to be sprayed on your dog.

The other thing that I really loved was the additive to dog water that makes the dogs breath smell better. It really works. Cutting back on my spending now, so I have to deal with stinky dog breath.

LOL I qualified my joke as "just kidding".

You wouldn't walk a dog licking that stuff, though it wouldn't kill them would probably make the sick.

OK, I DID IT!

Just now, in my corner shower, fought him hard into the running shower, poured liquid dish soap on his back, and rinsed and washed him. He just sat there, three towels later he smells wonderful.

glp motivation another win.

Ok but next time don't use dish soap - it'll be very hard on the skin. Remember when women used to wear those big, plastic gloves when washing dishes by hand?

If you can afford the $4 - $8, you should use the stuff specifically designed for dog baths. You can't wash them often because they need their natural dog skin oils. Having washed him with dish soap, he/she might itch incessantly now.

Re: Is there a way to get that smell off your dog without a bath
Use castile soap. I order it from Walmart. I usually use peppermint or lavender. I use baby shampoo on their head and I use earwash. My dogs never have ear infections
If you know a person that stinks, they can also benefit from washing with castile soap. I tell you it is good for getting rid of stink.
