In Japan they don't ask to check if someone is alive, they just keep sending pension checks until you report them dead. This has created an interesting situation where people hold onto the dead bodies of family and collect pensions until they get to old and become suspicious. You can't be 115 and not have the press wanting to interview the oldest person in Japan so they usually report them dead in their late 90s.

This is the real reason why Japan has the oldest population in the world
