Bark at the Moon was the last 'great' Ozzy album. The Ultimate Sin is only 'half' great, too much filler and bad '86 Producti | |

Girls Girls Girls is unlistenable to me because of the '87 Production. Theatre was raw and druggy, with that nasty muddy-brown guitar tone of Mick Mars and the howls and inflections of a young Vince. sjones7078 |

The Ultimate Sin is only 'half' great, too much filler and bad '86 Producti Back around 85 and definitely '86-87, metal bands' sounds became ruined by the shitty, synthy, guitar-tamed Production of the Time. Quoting: sjones7078 Think ZZ Top. Eliminator..BAD ASS guitar and tone. By '87 and Afterburner, you had crap like "Stages" and "Rough Boy." Sleeping Bag remains a guilty pleasure of mine, tho. 1983 and 1984 put out the best-sounding, most classic metal albums of the 80s. The WASP debut in '84, Piece of Mind, Hy Diver, etc. |

The Ultimate Sin is only 'half' great, too much filler and bad '86 Producti However, I would take 80's bad production any day over whats being produced today. As a drummer and as much as I love Holy Diver and Vinny Appice, I wish the drum "tone" back then was more of what you hear today. I myself was into the single head " blue Evens" drum head sound ( thump ) back in the 80's but so much better sound out of todays thin maple shell drums and thin drum heads and drum mounts... Much better than Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin, but ultimately it’s a matter of taste, so who cares. Might as well argue about your favorite foods. |
