I’m so worried about her. And I can’t even visit her in the hospital, I gave my spot to my dad and sibling. They only allow 2 people to visit the entire time and it has to be the same 2 people. I’m so broken right now. I hear bad things about elderly breaking a hip and hope she will recover fine though. Please send a prayer for my mom thanks. In the old days it could be a death sentence to break a hip while elderly. Not so much anymore. Hip replacements that used to involve 10-14 days in the hospital are routine now and barely require an overnight stay. Wishing your mom a speedy recovery. She could have another 15 - 20 years ahead of her! |

I long term care all they do is stay in bed. She can do that at home and Medicare will send in nurses to asses pain meds and bathe her. When it's time for physical therapy, Medicare will send someone. In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor. Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator. “Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.” – Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project |

She was very active at that time, constantly going out and doing a lot of walking. Actually, she was walking with her friend, and her friend fell and grabbed onto my mother instinctively and my mother fell and broke her hip. She had surgery and then was in a rehab for a number of weeks and she came home walking with a walker. She lived another 4 years and always had to walk with a walker, but that didn't stop her from being as active as she could be. The first few months was rough but she did okay after that. I wish your mother all the best. Hang in there. Hopefully she'll make a good recovery. User ID: 80184220 United States 01/20/2022 09:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | they will kill her in the hospital with drugs and ventilator.... thats how they did my mom... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33687387 you must tell them straight up, that if she is sedated and cannot speak to you and she dies, that you will demand an autopsy.... then they will take care her properly im not kidding! My experience with my mother was nothing like what you're saying. Why are you assuming that they will put the OP's mother on a ventilator? My mother only had normal painkillers that a person would have after hip replacement surgery. She was out of the hospital in approximately five or six days and then she went to a rehab facility where they did physical therapy with her multiple times a day for maybe four weeks. She made an improvement every day. Then she came home. So you telling the OP that her mother is going to end up on a ventilator is not being very helpful. I know a few people that broke their hip and they all recovered. Kinda concerned about post op infection which is usually bad news for people at that age. Quoting: FINGERPRINTS of the GODS The best thing I have found for wound care is lavender oil!! It works in every type of wound even bad burns! But you must dilute it with a plain oil. We use coconut oil 70% coconut oil 30% lavender! Must be pure pharmaceutical grade essential oil. We use the doTERRA company. Put it in a spray bottle so you don’t have to rub the wound you can just spray it on and it will soak in it will keep it clean and heal it fast!! Prayers going up! I’m Scared to even think about it the pain! I’ve been dealing with the sciatica for three weeks and I cannot imagine having this pain even worse, poor thing, at her age!! God keep us safe and healthy. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 81281100 United States 01/20/2022 09:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've done a lot of buisness with nursing homes and my friend/contact there told me once that old people do not normally decline gradually, it's usually a series of events which resemble "steps" going down, not a gradual slope. That being said, my mother died in September. The one event that was devastating to her health and ultimately caused her eventual death was catching C-diff when she was in the hospital. The C-diff was so severe that it caused her to be bed ridden for 2 weeks. She could no longer walk after that. My husband has had 4 hip replacements (1st one when he was 29 years old due to an injury). Hips are cemented in, you can walk on them right away. Get your mom out of bed and walking ASAP! Do not allow her to lay around, it will lead to her death. Please heed my warning, I've been through this. |

It's good ofyou to give your spot to a sibling, but with proper testing etc. this can be changed I hope. Can you at least facetime or zoom? Prayers for your family. |

It will not be easy but will be ok, I had a great aunt that went through that and lived another 20+ years, also i've had some close family and friends in hospitals in the past 2 years, I have spent a good amount of time in about 8 different ones, just do what you want, unless they take your name and the person you are there to see, for me that stopped over a year ago, i've been in rooms with four people and nothing was said and 99% don't wear masks in the rooms, talk to the nurses and they will tell you that they don't really enforce the so called rules, I wish you and your mother the best and that she has a speedy recovery. |

User ID: 81916909 United States 01/20/2022 10:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My dad "broke his hip". The break was actually at the top of his right femur. Had surgery to install some hardware. Was home in no time. Had pain for a couple months, and weathered the therapy just fine. Today, it's like it never happened. The short of it is that it depends on the break and the health of the person. |
