I’m so worried about her. And I can’t even visit her in the hospital, I gave my spot to my dad and sibling. They only allow 2 people to visit the entire time and it has to be the same 2 people. I’m so broken right now. I hear bad things about elderly breaking a hip and hope she will recover fine though. Please send a prayer for my mom thanks. Send you my prayers. For my mom it was the beginning of the end. But.. just enter the home. Its your mother. Had the same rule in Holland. If you don’t visit here now she will deteriorate like a leave in fall. I’m not able to express my anger. But in the first Corona period we were not allowed to visit my mom. After four months all tooth had gone bad. My mother must have been in incredible pain. All justified by Covid. Finally I was allowed to take her to the hospital. They pulled them all. No tooth left. She used to be a dentist. The last thing I could do for her was giving her water. With a teaspoon. They gave her morfine for the pain. Then she died. Can you abort God? |

Sounds like she may have suffered a TIA or some form of stroke/clot. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 65853998 In the hospital, rehab, and nursing home environments, falls are the absolute worst thing that can happen to the elderly. yeah, its all over. these things can do someone in 10 years younger. you have my condolences. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77610953 It’s good others have experienced someone who went through this and made it. I don’t even care if she can’t walk after this as long as we don’t lose her. I can wait on her hand and foot, whatever she needs. I just can’t fathom losing a parent. I’m not ready to let go. you are filtering what you want to hear. most of us are saying its hopeless. |

She didn’t exactly heal, their bones are fragile. She lived to 91. She will just have a harder time with mobility. My mom was tough she moved around and managed. So don’t think the worst. |

My great grandma had the same thing happen at the same age back in 1976 and they put a pin in her hip and she lived to be 96... So she should be okay, bro. |

I think she stands a very good chance! My friends mom is my mom’s age (91) and recently broke her leg, high up by the hip and she’s finally home from rehab and doing really well. Keep her spirits up- call often during the day and maybe get her watching a show or something happy- talk with her about it and keep her involved. Get your dad and sibling to bring her magazines and maybe some word search or crosswords- something she enjoys to give her something to do when family isn’t with her. The rehab is key. Also, after rehab, make sure you and your sibling can be with her often to help her walking about and to get her balance and strength back up. Hugs to you worrying about your mama. Tell her you love her and that she’s going to be ok. Tell her she’s strong and older people have had worse breaks and with a few months, they’re back doing their normal activities. Stay strong friend. |

OP, this is true, not always a death sentence. I always thought so too, but had a coworkers elderly relative break a hip and she made it. They were all surprised, we all thought it was a death sentence, but stats say 4 out of 5 make it. [link to www.griswoldhomecare.com (secure)] |

Overnight shift to pay the bills. More often then not it doesn’t end well but I was shocked at some peoples recovery…even in their 90s!! I don’t want to give a false sense of hope but good energy and positive thoughts make a difference. I will send mine |
