You know, there are a lot of variables. Overall health, if surgery is necessary. Number of breaks and if bones are in overall good health or severely pocked with osteoporosis. I don't know that it's worth playing Debbie Downer until you know all the facts.

don't think negatively

start her on collagen peptides tight now, while she is in the hospital. check out Dr. Christopher's bone and joint healing stuff.

get some comfrey salve and start using right away. take it to the hospital.

think positivity and talk to and pray to God/Creator/AllFather for her full healing.

Re: My mom broke her hip today :(
Depends mostly on the severity of the break, and type of Surgery (I think).

My Consultant said Hip replacements these days are Key Hole surgery cutting the risk of infection. And done much different to how they were once done.Emphasis on getting people out of Hospital quicker.

I see no reason why they wouldn't repair some breaks in a similar way.

It dosent have to be a death sentence.

Try and stay positive for your Mum.,it is infectious.Pun intended.

Prayers for your Mum.

Will she be okay?

She’s 85 and fell today.

I’m so worried about her.

And I can’t even visit her in the hospital, I gave my spot to my dad and sibling.

They only allow 2 people to visit the entire time and it has to be the same 2 people.

I’m so broken right now.

I hear bad things about elderly breaking a hip and hope she will recover fine though.

Please send a prayer for my mom thanks.

It is extremely painful to go through hip replacement and she will have to work a long time to learn how to walk again

I hope that she will have you there and others to support her

Re: My mom broke her hip today :(
geez, OP, I’m so sorry

I’d try to get her to take some collagen protein powder and a good multivitamin, something from the health food store, not Centrum or One A Day which are completely useless

my parents are gone so I won’t have to deal with this

does anyone know, does everyone who falls in their 80s break something? I just may wear padded pants when I’m that old

Yes Collagen, and Homemade Bone Broths when she gets home. I use a mix of "Marrow" bones and "Knuckle" bones. Simmer for 24hrs in Fluoride-Free water.

what's the water to bone ratio you use? hf

do you add salt or anything else?

give my kitties the collagen peptides in their wet food with some water and they love it...their coats are so silky smooth and soft from taking it...and other benefits as well.

Broken hip in seniors results in 18 mos or less to live

If you get her to a rehab center or rehab floor the better chance she has

She has to move with help so her health isn’t compromised - and do as much as she is able- sit up - when they let her

If she has no other health problems and was reasonably active for her age - she can still make it to 100

TALK TO HER ON THE PHONE!

Hospitals are BORING and LONELY places

Good luck and I said a small prayer for her heathy recovery

I worked in several nursing homes and typically the better the support system and the more family involved , the more likely someone was to recover just fine from a broken hip. Watch out for infection and skin breakdown, those are the biggest killers I saw. Make sure they're taking good care of her wound.

Another huge factor is underlying conditions. There may be some you aren't aware of that could affect her ability to heal. You already know about the diabetes. That does affect healing. Make sure her to keep her nutrition good and blood sugar stable and watch the wound closely.

I use 4ish lbs of Beef Bones in a 8qt crock pot. I roast the bones in the oven first. I know it sounds gross but sometimes I add chicken feet as they are a great source of collagen. Beef bones are grass-fed and chicken is Soy-free organic. All local. If using chicken feet, cut the tips of the toes and toenails off with a poultry shears. They nasty.

I do not add salt until it is finished as I want the minerals from the bones. I do use a bit of Bragg cider vinegar at the start to break things down faster.

I jar it up in quart size masons. About 6 jars, but only 20-24oz each jar. Larger batches would be better.

Sorry about your mom. My dad fell a year older. He died exactly a year to date of the day he fell but he had other problems. If your mom is healthy going in she should be ok coming out. Get her some colostrum if she isn't lactose intolerable. Its the first cow milk that is full of nutrients that is given to people animals. It is great for healing and really helps bone and arthritis stuff. Have her take it 3 times per day. Comes in powder or capsules. Also glucosimine and CBD oil which really reduces any inflamation. There will be pain so CBD with THC oil (for rest).

I think when we get up there in years, we should walk with a walking stick or a strong cane, that maybe, may help to break a fall. Even if we have energy and think we're strong, you never know, and a cool-looking sword cane or something may be good to carry around.

Sadly, Dr Christopher's has already "sold out". I don't necessarily mean literally: go read reviews for your chosen product ,select 1 star reviews and learn! Plenty report their products no longer work. Dr. Ch is long dead. (Same happened with Aubrey Organics, after he died some 12 yrs ago!)

I ordered their capsicum salve and it had 0 burn, even though bright red. 0 effect. A waste of money. I then decided to read the original ingredients of a different healing salve of theirs, which I needed the effects from, and bought the main herbs myself and worked with that. Worked like a charm. I'd strongly suggest that you kindly keep this to yourself and no more "blabbing" threads: they already made NAC illegal and now Colloidal Silver is off the shelves. Quercetin very hard to find. You don't want to cause shortages needlessly. Save it for your family and let others find on their own. Sad but this is the age we live in. Once it's gone, imagine the agony you'll be in, just for 'blabbing'.

Her kidneys are bad and has diabetes.

It's pretty much a standard that you get moving as soon as you are physically able. Physical therapist made my mother in law start moving after a few days after knee replacement. Had this machine where she placed her leg to flex her knee for hours every day. Not sure what they do for hip replacement but im sure they will get her going to keep blood flowing.

The key against post op infection is vitamin D... if it's too low, bad news. Need to take a lot of it if it's on the low side to prevent infection or keep infection from getting much worse.

That's horrible, I hope she pulls through okay.

I'm constantly telling my mom not to break a hip.
She thinks I'm half joking.
Last year she was admitted to the hospital for the rona,
and she suffers from CPOD. I thought it was the last time
I would see her.

She got through it fast, with little damage done.
Then two weeks later she had an emergency surgery for
an intestinal blockage.
Amazingly she survived that too.

Stay strong!

A few minutes ago, maybe half hour ago I sent a prayer out for all the saints. Essentially it was for all saints to receive healing in their bodies. Also, healing in their soul (mind, will and emotions) and spirit. Additionally, that they all have everything they need and some of what they want.

Now all that remains is for you to receive it for your Mom, give thanks for her healing and whenever you get distressed, give thanks to God for her healing. Even when not distressed.

When you talk to your mom, tell her of this and for her to do the same thing.

God bless you and your mom.
Soteria...

The Bible's use of Soteria indicates its etymology from Greek mythology, as the word is used to mean "fourfold salvation: saved from the penalty, power, presence and most importantly the pleasure of sin."
