Why are people saying the short positions still exist? Finviz.com says gme has 13% shorted. I was following gme in 2020, but I'm watching silver now. It feels like silver is going to squeeze and bring in the dollar collapse followed by the new digital world currency.

Silver is the game stopper. Picture buying silver and using other commodities to purchase it. Say today 8 loaves of bread buy an ounce of silver. Then the dollar loses 50% in a year and now it only costs 4 loaves of bread if the bankers choose to try to increase their short positions to keep the price at 24$. It becomes increasingly easier for the masses to buy it. BO America has 800 million ounces shorted so for every dollar it rises they show 800 million in losses. Everyone's purchasing precious metals for protection from inflation, demand skyrockets, and the bullion banks that took these ridiculous short positions now have to increase their positions exponentially to keep the price down. The basel 3 agreement pretty much dates the end of silver manipulation so the price should skyrocket any time. Gold is similar with less shorted, but is going to be used to back the world currency.

Everything's supply and demand. If a business announces it's bankrupt, like for example what's going to happen with gme and amc, then everyone sells and the shorts can get covered for pennies. You could screen businesses for high short positions but it doesn't mean it's going to squeeze.
